How to Stay Fashionable With Layers

As the cool weather creeps in it can be a challenge to find layered outfits that are still fashionable. Check out these tips to make your cold-weather wear trendier.

Statement Scarfs

Bright scarves are a great way to liven up a layered outfit. Try bold colors and patterns to really bring a statement piece to your wardrobe. Just keep in mind that if you wear a bold scarf to keep the rest of your layers more neutral.

Long Cardigans

Long cardigans are a good way to stay warm while still looking stylish. The long sweater is great for layering, but also is an outfit that keeps you warm, trendy. Cardigans can also be dressed up or dressed down depending on the items you pair them with.

Vary the Layers

On those in-between season days it can be a challenge finding the perfect outfit. Layering different weights of items is the best way to go. You can add a jacket over your outfit for those frosty mornings, but when it warms up you can take it off and still have a stylish, lightweight outfit underneath. Just make sure the outfit you planned out does not focus around the jacket. That way when you pull it off it still looks great.

Mix Patterns

Do not always feel like you need to be conservative with your layers. Try mixing patterns in your layers to give your outfit a trendy feel. However, the key to mixing patterns is moderation and you should avoid mixing too many patterns. You could go from stylish to eye sore.

Brighten Up

Just because the warm seasons are behind us does not mean you have to put away all your favorite bright colors. Pair your fall neutrals with stand out pieces like a bright blazer or colorful accessories.

Break Up the Black

Black is a classic color and looks great on everyone. To keep an all black outfit from looking dreary try swapping a black piece of apparel for something grey. It will still have the timeless look, but will soften and mix up the look.

Liven Up the Neutrals

Do not feel drab with the upcoming cooler months and give your neutrals a pop. Try a patterned scarf or bright coat to bring more attention to your outfit.

A Statement Coat

Rather than having a statement outfit go for a statement coat. Coats are a great way to make your outfit stand out in the cold months. Just remember, with a statement coat, the rest of your outfit should be fairly simple to not clash patterns or look too busy.

Be sure your layers all look their best before the cold months are completely here by bringing them to Morellis. We will give them the quality clean and care they need to look their best all season long.
